The Knowledge Manager (KM) shall provide on-site/off-site knowledge management support to the Carrier Team One (CT1) Community Leaders (i.e., KSN Process Masters, KMSO, CT1 PD, KMFPs) in the planning and execution of all aspects of the knowledge management process, as well as, assist in planning & facilitating all knowledge management events.
The KM shall provide support to include Knowledge Management, Benchmarking, Performance Management, Technology adaptation and Administrative expertise.  The KM shall cover the region they are assigned to for all events (WA, VA, CA).  If the event is outside those areas, the KM in the location closest to the event will travel to support.  All KMs shall attend Winter Community Meeting regardless of location.  Examples of support required, include, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Provide administrative and technical support to the assigned KSN Process Master, KMSO, CT1 PD and/or KMFP teleconference meetings:
    • Provide teleconference support (e.g. AMP, KSN Monthly) to assigned meetings (to include but not limited to: set up calendar invite, meeting minutes, roster, upload information to the CT1 Campus, set up call, etc.)

  • Provide CT1 Meeting Support: KSN Face to Face meetings, CT1 Semi-Annual Meetings, Hotwashes, KMCoP Face to Face, After Action Reviews, Retrospects and/or any other CT1 Knowledge Capture meetings requested to attend to support.
    • Arrange, document and/or facilitate CT1 Meetings with KSN Leads, KMSO, CT1 PD and/or Project KMFP (to include but not limited to: set up calendar invite, meeting minutes, roster, upload information to the CT1 Campus, coordinate any support for facility as well as any other support needed) in accordance with CT1 guidance.
    • Generate formal reports after each event in accordance with CT1 Guidance (format and timing) and routing through the lead for review before posting to the CT1 web site.

  • Provide specific support to the KMFP to include, but not be limited to:
    • Support the Deputy Project Superintendent in maintenance and management of the project Knowledge Market Agreement.
    • Target project personnel for individual interviews where applicable to mine tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge without the need for separate meeting or retrospect that requires many to participate.
    • Perform administrative duties as requested for project “25%”, “50%”, “75%” reviews

  • CT1 Campus Support:
    • Update appropriate calendars on CT1 website with appropriate Knowledge Sharing events and teleconferences.
    • Update the KSN CT1 web sites (Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (U-NNPI) and SharePoint) with updated information. Personnel shall maintain their ability to utilize the U-NNPI portal supported by Naval Sea Logistics Center (NSLC) and all security restrictions required by this information.
    • Update content on CT1 web site KSN pages to assure information is current and accurate.  Archive and keep historical records. iv. Update KSN Metrics monthly.

  • Support the KMSO/CT1 Program Director/Process Masters in updating the KSN’s documents, including but not limited to:
    • Annual Plan (AP)
    • Process Management Plan (PMP)
    • Continuum
    • Annual Reports v. K-Mails
    • Handbooks
    • Meeting minutes for teleconferences and face-to-face meetings viii. Other CT1 administrative actions
    • Collect, monitor and analyze assigned metrics data.
    • Assist Project Focal Points, if assigned, in submitting applicable Proven Practice Replications (PPR) to the carrier community via the CT1 web site KSN Roster(s)

  • Travel Required: Attend 3LG Community Meeting, Winter Community Meeting, Hotwashes and other KM meetings as requested by KMSO for a total of up to 13 trips per year.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in directly involved in the planning and execution of CVN availabilities from a public or private shipyard’s perspective.  Ten years experience is preferred.
  • Associate's Degree in Business Management discipline or technical management required.  Bachelor's degree Engineering or Business Management discipline is preferred.
  • US Citizen with ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance
  • Comprehensive experience in development and delivery of presentations and position papers within the Shipyard, Navy, and DoD environments.
  • Expertise and comprehensive knowledge and experience of the entire Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, excel, word, access, Visio, etc.)
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of adult learning models and leadership and management development.
  • Comprehensive experience in lean, six sigma, and corporate process improvement.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining liaison with public and private nuclear capable shipyards.
