Job Description

  • All personnel in this group shall be graduates of high school or GED equivalence
  • Two (2) years of experience after achieving journeyman status as a pipefitter.Journeyman’s level of skill is developed from both formal training and work experience. The term Journeyman is specifically defined as a term applied to a worker who has completed a specified training program as an APPRENTICE MASTER TITLE (any industry) in learning a trade or craft, or can give written proof of five years of qualifying experience for such trade or craft.
  • Ship maintenance and repair experience of 2 or more years working on U.S. Naval vessels.
  • Ability to fabricate,install, modify, andrepair piping/hoses in shop and aboard ship
  • Ability to layout, template, target, bend, assemble, and install piping.
  • Ability to fabricate various kinds of pressure joints within piping systems, inspect and test piping as required to certify systems, and checkout, troubleshoot, groom, modify, repair, and test ship’s installations.
  • Ability to hydrostatic test, component check, adjust, align, and operational test piping systems.
  • Ability to remove valves and install jumpers, blanks, test equipment, and pumps to ready system for preliminary air test and hydrostatic test and flushing.
  • Ability to ship check, layout, template, and draw pipe assemblies for fabrication.

  1. Negative Pressure Respirator - contractor personnel provided must be trained in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.134
  2. Confined Space Safety - contractor personnel provided must be trained in accordance with 29 CFR 1915 Subpart B
  3. Grinder Safety – 29 CFR 1910.215, Abrasive Wheel Machinery; ANSI STD B7.1-1988, Safety Requirements for the Use, Care, and Protection of Abrasive Wheels; ANSI STD B186.1-1984, Safety Code for Portable Air Tools.
    •MUST be capable of obtaining a fully Adjudicated DoD Clearance. Candidates with a current fully adjudicated DoD Clearance (RED Badge ONLY) will be given priority for hiring. Must be US Citizen
