Job Description

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Veteran and Wounded Warrior (V&WW) Program Office provides support to the NAVSEA V&WW community across the enterprise.

The goals of the V&WW program office are to:

  • Increase the Outreach and Hiring of V&WWs at NAVSEA
  • Develop and Retain V&WWs Employed by NAVSEA

The function of this role are as follows:

  • Assist in the development of program office strategies, recommending process improvements, and executing the program office tools, processes, and techniques in collaboration with team members and internal stakeholders across the enterprise, which are geographically dispersed across the country.
  • Develop relationships and collaborate with internal NAVSEA stakeholders as well as other Federal agencies and organizations to advocate for the NAVSEA V&WW community by researching, recommending, and executing recruitment, outreach, & retention strategies
  • Assist with the development, improvement, and implementation of NAVSEA VWWPO program tools and processes; organize and create processes and frameworks in collaboration with other team members for project/program documentation, goals, timelines, and budgets
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of current topics and issues related to V&WW
  • Develop and maintain relationships with NAVSEA V&WW site POCs to collaborate on recruitment, outreach, and retention strategies to best support the V&WW community across the NAVEA enterprise as a whole
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to plan, organize, and execute program hosted events (outreach/recruiting events, luncheons, speakers, etc.)
  • Serve as a lead for getting quotes and managing all V&WW program material inventory (marketing materials, iPads, displays, etc.); facilitate shipping logistics for events and execute shipping and receiving accordingly. Must be able to lift/transport robust program inventory.
  • Support and market the NAVSEA Mentor, Assist, Train to Excel, and Support (MATES) program internally; facilitate virtual training with site liaisons; ensure successful program execution in partnership with site POCs; maintain database of mentors and mentees
  • Provide internal and external strategic communications and program management support:
    • Develop advanced presentations for senior leadership briefings
    • Draft content for marketing materials, newsletters, and social media blurbs; work with internal POCs to review/approve materials before release and as well as to facilitate the printing process for print related materials
    • Manage program office communications; monitor and respond appropriately to program related emails/calls
    • Communicate with internal stakeholders and hiring managers to provide program tools and processes updates
  • Serve as talent acquisition tool, Yello, subject matter expert (SME) for V&WW enterprise program office; market and communicate Yello as the primary source for V&WW candidates in the NAVEA talent network
  • Create an effective web presence with toolkits for various stakeholders with easy to use resources (V&WW public website and iNAVSEA site)
  • Continuously evaluate internal processes and recommend ways to operate more efficiently and effectively; anticipate potential roadblocks, issues, and inefficiencies, and recommend solutions
  • Partner with internal data analyst to recommend and obtain metrics to inform data driven decision making and determine return on investment to drive recommendations for improvement
  • Maintain current program presentation overview and facilitate the NAVSEA V&WW program office briefing at the New Hire Orientation.

Job Requirements


  • 3-5 years of related or applicable experience
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent
  • U.S. Citizen
  • SECRET Security Clearance must be obtainable; Active SECRET clearance is preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Prior military experience is a plus, but not required
  • Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills and experience
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong relationship development skills. Experience in leading collaboration teams, ability to facilitate/lead meetings across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Ability to work both independently and within a group for the greater good of a project; must be a self-starter and “own” his/her work
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate ability to work with remote and cross functional teams
  • Comfortable communicating with Senior level staff and management
  • Professionally mature; able to interact with clients of all levels in a professionally mature manner
  • Working style is proactive vs. reactive; enthusiasm to develop new ways of managing workload and creating new best practices to improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Able to facilitate meetings virtually and in-person; as well as speak articulately in front of senior level customers and deliver presentations, training, etc. to clients
  • Capable of prioritizing workload; works efficiently; strong time-management skills
  • Must be able to travel as needed, including nights and weekends, in support of client outreach and recruiting events
    • Must have transportation to be able to drive and transport program materials to local DC metro recruiting events
    • Must be able to fly for national recruiting events
    • Must be able to support an all-day outreach or recruiting event, including standing on your feet for long periods for the duration of the all-day event
    • Must be able to lift materials (up to 40 lbs)
