Job Description

This Senior Technical Expert Position is located VIRGINIA Class Submarine Program Office (PMS 450), Office of the Program Executive Officer, Submarines (PEO SUB), Naval Sea Systems Command.

The position requires expert and authoritative knowledge of Submarine Structural Integrity requirements (submarine design, construction, maintenance).   

Specific responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  1. Coordinate the review and consolidation of comments for VPM structural deliverables for compliance with requirements.
  2. Prepared PMS450 final disposition of VPM structural deliverables and coordinate response with other NAVSEA directorates.
  3. Participate in the review of VPM systems and components for compliance with structural requirements.  
  4. Participate in the review of VPM structural arrangements to ensure compliance with approved deliverables.
  5. Support R&D efforts in support of VPM pressure hull structural design.
  6. Support PMS450 Technical Director on BLK VI structural concept developments.
  7. Support the VPM Structures System Integration Team.  Provide support to other System Integration Team leads as required.

Job Requirements


  • Held 3+ years expert level position in Submarine Structural Integrity
  • 18+ years’ experience in Navy Ship systems engineering.
  • 10+ years’ experience in submarine hull design procedures and criteria, Submarine EXTORP clearance, VA Class Construction Support, VA Class Payload Tube Bow redesign, CLB Class design, SSGN conversion, SSN 21 and SSN 688 Class support
  • Engineering Degree
  • Secret Security Clearance
  • Must be US Citizen
